Custom Aluminium Header Tanks – Made to Suit Your Application

At The Alloy Shed, many of the aluminium tanks in our range can be modified to suit individual vehicle installations and specific cooling-system requirements.

Our standard products provide a proven starting point, but we understand that modified, classic, kit and motorsport vehicles rarely follow a completely standard layout. Different engines, radiators, hose routing and available space can all require a slightly different solution.

Customising Our Existing Designs

Rather than starting every project completely from scratch, we can often take one of our existing aluminium header tank designs and modify it to suit your application.

Depending on the product and installation, possible changes can include:

- Different inlet and outlet diameters

- Relocated coolant connections

- Different fitting angles and orientations

- Alternative filler neck positions and size

- Modified or additional mounting brackets

- Changes to tank dimensions or capacity where practical

- Different pressure-cap requirements

- Additional bleed or overflow connections

This allows you to retain the basic design and construction of one of our established products while adapting the important details to suit your vehicle.

Built for Modified and Specialist Vehicles

Customisation can be particularly useful for vehicles where the cooling system has been changed from the original specification.

Engine conversions, upgraded radiators, relocated components and motorsport applications can all result in standard tanks no longer being suitable.

It can also provide a solution for older or less common vehicles where the original coolant tank is difficult to source, no longer manufactured or simply doesn't suit the requirements of a modified vehicle.

Fabricated in the UK

Our aluminium tanks are fabricated in the UK using TIG-welded aluminium construction, with particular attention paid to weld quality, fitment and functionality.

Each custom request is considered individually. Before fabrication, we can discuss dimensions, hose sizes, fitting positions and mounting requirements to establish whether the requested changes are practical.

If you've found a tank in our range that is close to what you need but the connections, mounting arrangement or another detail isn't quite right, you don't necessarily need a completely bespoke tank.
